Air Medivac

I came across a very interesting website today for a company called AeroCare.

I have had several experiences with medical air evacuations. Some were in the military, and one was as a civilian.

Laur was in Grenada going to Veterinary school, and for fun she was learning to scuba dive. I do not know if you are familiar with Grenada, but it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is a small island nation in the Caribbean.

They have great scuba diving in Grenada, but the hospitals are not up to American standards. Laur was scuba diving with a friend, we will call her Jessica, and Jessica came up from a dive too soon and got the bends. The bends is a sometimes fatal medical condition that happens when the compressed nitrogen in your blood (it gets compressed when you scuba dive below a certain depth) expands too quickly because you rise to the surface of the water too quickly.

They air medical evacuated Jessica to the next island which had a decompression chamber, and it saved her life.

AeroCare provides a 24 hour international air ambulance service. I think it is sign of the times that such an amazing company can exist, and I think it can give someone a sense of optimism.

Aerocare emphasizes training, safety, and quality of care. If you are stuck in a foreign land, or somewhere where you can not get the proper medical care, you may want to remember this website reliable air ambulance service
