Bill and Jamie's Opening at Transmission

My opening with Jamie Boling went well at Transmission Gallery on Dec 5th. There were a ton of people, and everything was very cheerful. Richmond has all the galleries open on the same night: the first Friday of every month, so people there walk from gallery to gallery. They had street performers out, like a guy twirling sticks with the ends lit on fire. Richmond itself is a very beautiful place, with a ton of old picturesque brick buildings and an island in the middle of the city in the James River, Belle Isle.

Here are some short videos from the openings.

After the opening we (Jamie, Cece, and I) headed over to the "Church of Crystal Light," which is run by Brian and three other people, they have a mural painted by Maya Hayuk, who is a very good artist:

This is me in front of sculpture in the show at the Church of Crystal Light:

Some drawings from the show that I don't think I have posted before:

i made a virtual tour, but I didn't like it. I started singing in it, and it's very weird.

Thanks Dad.

It was cool to have an opening in a busy city. I liked working with the gallerist Bret Payne. He was cool and had an idea about how he wanted the show to look.

I've been drunk in Richmond. Good times. That was a long time ago.

R, yeah Richmond is a cool town, partly gentrified but still rough around the edges. Richmondites are an interesting breed. Plus there is some really good food in Richmond, Koba Koba has some great Cuban food, and there is a good bookstore (kind of like Spoonbill Sugartown) called Chop Suey.

I'd like to see the virtual tour!

Even if you have to put music over the video sound... maybe use a song that you started singing :)

I know... more work! But, go on... share it with us!

Looks like you had a great time, and sorry it took me so long to post a comment, I've been a little unwell :(

Hi Bill! I finally able to see your face up and personal. :)
Ahh.. I want to appologize for not commenting in your post for some times until you left me a message in my shout box.

I do visit you some time, but just like I have said before, I didn't really understand about art and can't comment much.

But, I'll try to comment your post from now on even though just to say hi. :)

Thanks Manz, sorry to hear you have not been feeling well. I liked the recent GritFx article about movies and the Australian summer (in january). It snowed here yesterday...

Aldhis, I like seeing you around here.

The tour... I don't think I can publish the tour I made without a huge cringe factor being involved!
