I chose "church steps" by Kingdom of the Dead as the Ink Stained Hands flickr group artist of the week. This drawing was picked because of it's ambitious composition (note the tattered wings on the skeleton to the top right of the other skeletons), the incredible imagination put into this work, and the great sense of space. One thing I would like to note about this drawing is that the foreground is very close, and the buildings are very far, and it feels like we a on a second or third floor.
I think every kid makes drawings based out of fantasy like this, but this is exceptional in that this is made by an adult who obviously has the intense fantasy life of a child. That is not a bad thing, Picasso's supporters often cited his child like engagment with the world and his openness with ideas. It made me remember how I used to draw He-Men characters, and G.I. Joe characters.

nice drawing, this is seriously weird, what is KINGDOM OF THE DEAD? A zine? Do you know about the painter (dead) James Ensor? You may like his work, just guessing (lots of monsters and masks).

KINGDOM OF THE DEAD says:
it started as a joke in the form of a coloring and activity book. silkscreened covers, goofy activities (name that fictitious band [metallica+the muppet show band=master of muppets, family matters+keith morris=urkel jerks, etc], which reaper is different, mazes and drawings. i havent put one together in a while but am starting on a "best of" 11x17 perforated poster book soon.
and Kingdom of the Dead sent me this charming poem by James Ensor in my email:
"the beetle sat on the fence sadly, having fallen in love with a fly. thou art, o fly of my heart, the spouse i have set apart. marry me, do not be cold, my belly is made of the purest gold." -ensor

i dig these. i used to be into D7D when i was a kid. mostly for the illustrations.
I checked out blog and I love the black & white illustrations the best! I think they force the viewer to really look over everything and discover all the elements - which I love doing.
I liked drawing Garfield as a kid!
No wonder I grew up to be a cat lover... however, I never intended to create my own Garfield - One of my cats is just as fat! Sorry - that was a little off-topic!
I played D&D too. Marilyn Manson said every year someone plays D&D it offsets into them losing their virginity one year later, lol.
Manz, lol, Garfield! I loved Garfield as a kid too.
Hey Deryke, maybe that painting with E-Z-E riding a unicorn over a rainbow should have some D&D and Garfield too. Then we have some interesting content!
Comments are crack!!
it may have been done already with a LIGER as well.
was that a Napolean Dynamite reference? Cause I have skills, you need skills to get girls.
