I have spent a lot of time using phone cards, especially when Laur was in Grenada and I was in Iowa. It was a way to budget our phone expenses, because if you have a phone card you know how much you are spending when you call a foreign country, but if you call from a regular phone you can really run up a big bill in no time.

The main reason I used phone cards was that I was afraid of getting caught off guard by a huge bill, and the calling card eliminated that risk.
